Early Bird gets the worm March 28, 2011

I think this bird feels he has to dig for his own worms!! I finally lost 3 pounds. 3.4 to be exact! But I played bridge tonight and didn't eat worms! I ate everything else in sight except dessert. Crackers, cheese and dips are my downfall. It is late. I didn't get in until 11:30. School and taxes are tomorrow so I had better get to bed.

Window light shooting March 27, 2011

Yesterday was my portrait class. It was pouring down rain and these were pictures to be made by available light. Since it was saturday, the teacher was able to get the cafeteria opened to us which had many windows so we did window light pictures. I should have gotten a little more help. Some came out good , some didn't.. I had Andrea and her friend as models. A lot of the students were taking pictures of them. They were good models, and had lots of fun. It was a new experience for them. I need models at 8:00am next saturday. That was too early for teenagers. They had so much fun, they decided they would do it. B u t the friends mother wouldn't let her do it again. She was afraid someone would do something with the pictures. We are supposed to get model releases and when they are underage, the parent has to sign. Marisa and Marcus work on Saturday. I guess I'll use someone else's models.
I stopped writing for about an hour and talked to Norma. She wasn't sleepy.

Clouds and Cross March 26,2011

I am back! Test is over, reports written, a portrait class today at 3:00. I am using Andrea and her friend as my models, still raining and it is supposed to be out doors. Maybe it will quit by then, if not the instructor said we will do window light, under covers of buildings, whatever we can find. We have another class next sat. early in the morning and it is not supposed to be raining.
It didn't rain last tuesday, the last day before the big storms so I walked to school from our church (only a mile). This is the cross on our hill at church. I love clouds but you can see that we are going to have some weather! Spring is supposed to come back next week. I can hardly wait.
I have enjoyed your blogs. I can't believe all your trips! I hope you got to weight warchers today and your taxes all done.

Hail in March March21, 2011

Tell Dioni I don't like March anymore either! We already started spring and now this. It hailed twice and I do have pictures of a white yard but I liked the way it really hit the water! It is not supposed to rain again until tomorrow night and then for a few more days.
I finally finished some of my homework. We have a test on Thursday. So that means I should study some. I have my craft classes on wednesday. I have been shopping for supplies. I am anxious to see what we will be doing now.
It is getting late and I got up at 6:00. I should think about going to bed.

Another flower March 18,2011

Another flower! I don't do much else so I am thankful spring is almost here. It is starting to look like spring, even tho it is raining and we have another week of rain. We have had almost our year's totals and still a few months to go.
I just got back from a funeral. My friend's husband has been sick for awhile and he is 10 years older. This past year 4 of my tennis friend's husbands have died. Our widow row at church is now empty. They are either sick or dead. DOES THIS SOUND LIKE MAMA VAUGHN'S LETTERS? I do have a lot of healthy and active friends left. That is the difference! And of course my young sisters and brothers.
I have a portrait class tonight. It only meets 4 times.I almost forgot about it. I have to leave in 1o min. I ate my dinner snacking at Costco. I think they have more things to sample on Fridays. I am full. I won't even try to count points! Bud is hooked on thin crust pizzas so I got that for him.
Good luck on all your busy work and then taxes --- worse yet.
I knew that if I didn't do this blog now, I wouldn't get it done tonight.

Spring Magnolias March 17, 2011

Magnolias are a small spring blooming small tree. They are so pretty. Someday I am going to put one into the backyard.
I was so glad to hear that everything was so good for you in southern California, Your Avon is doing good , your weight is doing good. I am so happy for you and really happy for Dioni. From the the pictures that I have seen, it looks like she enjoyed every minute. I have always enjoyed reading stories that have happy endings, even fairy tales like yours! And this is almost like a fairy tale.
I went to a class today on book binding. She has 10-15 ideas on book binding. Very interesting. There are 3 other classes on this class. I only went for one type of book binding but it is good to know the others.
Then I went to a Relay for Life meeting and signed up my team. They aren't on line yet. someone still has to get trained to do the on line stuff.
I then went to a church board meeting, now I am home eating weight watchers popcorn, then to read this morning's
newspaper and then if I am not too sleepy, I will read some of my homework. Not very exciting but it is my day.
HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!

tree cutting March 9, 2011

Today we are getting our trees pruned (only 1/2 of the yard ) to the tune of $1,000. That's the cost of having lots of trees (which I love) and a big yard. We only do it every few years and we get lots of oak firewood for the winter. It is scary to watch them high up in the trees going from one tree to another. Also the hawks have already started sitting on the nest. I don't know if they will abandon it or not. My home work in my history class is really getting to be a lot of work. I have today off and I was going to put in some time on it. But I didn't know the tree people were coming until last night and it is going to be 70 degrees today. No way can I stay in and work on home work when the weather is so nice. It might rain tomorrow.
I am so excited about your trip and I am so glad that you are a writer and don't mind sharing such exciting times with us. It is almost like reading a novel. I can't wait for the next chapter. It is good that you are a strong person. You have so many exciting things happening to you. Most times you are out there making it happen! ( I am going to use your words now) YOU ARE SO BLESSED AND BLESS SO MANY PEOPLE! And YOU are my SISTER!! Most people don't have relatives like you. Thank you !!

Daffodils March 7, 2011

California daffodils! I don't know if they will still be blooming when you get to California. I am sure something down there will be in spring bloom. At least you shouldn't see snow.
I have been going through old photos. We are studying tin types and that type of photography now. Bud's grandmother had some nice old studio pictures . I can't find many originals. I guess I copied most of them. I have a mess now on the bed. I have to get those put away before the news comes on.

Heads at Sierra March 5, 2011

You just never know what you are going to see when you walk past the art department at a junior college. Many more heads there and they are all interesting!
Congratulations on your weight loss! That is so good, Keep it up. I hope to join you. Not this week but next. It is too late for this week.
Today was a very busy day. Meetings, working out in the garden and going out to help the older lady with a broken arm.
We have had really nice weather the last 2 days, tonight it is raining and predicted for tomorrow. I am ready for it.
How did all your Avon go today? What about last night with the chiropracter??
I am going to finish my exercises, take a shower, watch the news and go to bed.

March 1, 2011 Grandma Gibbs camera

Grandma Gibbs! Quite a lady! How old was shed when she started selling Avon. I was 16 when grandpa died so that was 1953 or close to that year. She was more than likely born in the late 1990's so that made her pretty old when she started selling. I think selling was in her genes and in hers but not in mine. BUT I eventually got her camera (after mother). It was a good camera. They don't make film to fit it anymore. Aunt Velma was more into the photography and arts so I consider myself taking after her. I didn't think of her when I first got into it though. I would have liked talking to her more. Smokey always had the camera around his neck. Otherwise we probably would not have had any old pictures.
I love your mountains and clouds. That was a really nice trip. I don't like all your snow you get. It is like Portland , Oregon. I love that area but they get too much rain! So, what can I say! I really like my area. We get a little bit if everything but not too much of it! Do you think October 10 is too late to go to Branson? This church project is getting too involved. My last meeting is on September 10 so I could go the next weekbut after that I think I have to be around until after the 8th.
