Moon light July 31, 2010

Did you know that hings are supposed to grow bettet during the Full moon. Your hair grows faster, if you cut it then, the farmers plant according to the full moon. This is according to the Farmer's Alamac. Also by working in the hospital, especially if the full moon is on Friday, the ER is busier that night, weider things happen. BEWARE OF THE FULL MOON! (I think Aunt Velma would agree with that)
I hope your day went good and the girl got lots of sales. I think you are right that maybe training is your #1 talent. But it is all based on being a people person, You don't know a stranger, you are observant, you listen to them, you know where they are best without them telling you. That is where the good training comes in-------plus you work hard at getting the people to come to you to start with

Temptations July 30, 2010

I worked the desert table. After trying several cookies, I started to lose interest. Thank Goodness! This was a concert that we had at our church with Carrie Newcomer. She was good! She had a great voice! She wrote her own songs and from being from the mid west (small towns) I could relate. She wrote about so many things that I could relate to.
Her Monroe county fair, I could relate to. I had some other memories than she didn't mention. When we went to the fair, it was always after a day of picking cotton. We had picked enough cotton where we could buy some new clothes. I had new blue jeans, turned up once at the legs, and white buck shoes. I did feel good. We usually went to the Greene County Faire. I remember the lights of the carnival rides. I don't think that I got to ride any but it was still fun , just being there. Then I got to go to the Memphis faire with school. That was fun! We took the school bus there, lots of my friends there. We stayed all day. For some reason, this song always comes to my mind "Cookie, Lend me your comb" Of course coming home, we had to sing "99 bottles of beer on the wall" doesn't that seem odd coming from a dry county?

July 22, 2010 Garden Party

Part of the Indian ceremony for a garden blessing. Hands down was giving to the soil, Hands up , the soil giving back to us. It was a good ceremony. It was a good day.
The next day was bridge at my house and I was getting sick to my stomach. I thought it was the motrin but it lasted 2 days which motrin didn't last that long. Now I found out that the stomach flu was going around. I don't think any one got sick from being around me. I hope not. It sure is good to feel better.

Garden party is over and I am tired. It turned out good. This is half of our gardners. Great group!

Stargazing July 23, 2010

On the campus of the University, there are 5 of these ceramic heads. Robert Arneson was the artist of these. He was a art professor there. The eggs are huge. He finished them in 1991 and died in 1992 from cancer. I only got to see 2 of them. The campus is also huge and I started to look for them on the second day and my knee wasn't doing real good.

I am back. It was a good trip. I am tired, we did a lot of walking. I wore one of my chemo hats to keep the sun off. My knee was feeling the walk today. Somehow we lucked out on our room.. Somehow we got a 2 bedroom suite, the only drawback was the bed rooms were upstairs. Going up and down the steps was not the best for my knee but I don't think it hurt it too much.
I wish somehow you could transfer all the house cleaning that you have done to my house. Bridge is Monday night at my house.
I am trying to get the cooking done first. I made 2 batches of zucchini squares. One for the community garden open house on Sunday and one for bridge, and 3 dozen zucchini cookies for the garden open house. I am tired.

Church bunny July 20,2010

I worked in the community garden today and this is one of the bunnies around. But tomorrow I am going out of town for over night with my friend. Maybe I will see something other than animals. At least it will be a change. Then when I get back, I have to be serious about cleaning house. I have bridge here on Monday night. I finally have desert figured out. It is something that I can do ahead of time.
I rode the bicycle again today for 15 minutes and I think it really is helping my knee.
I have to finish packing, it is after midnight and we are leaving early in the morning.

The neighbor cat July 18 2010

The neighbor's cat who is 18 years old. I babysat the other neighbor's dog the week before the car. Now I am back with the dog. She is pretty old too.
The last 2 days did me in with the heat. both of my legs were cramping up really bad for about 2 hours. I was wiped out this morning. I stayed inside and turned on the air conditioner. I also had only done my knee exercises once when it is supposed to be 3 times. Back on track with my exercises today.

Los Lobas near Carmel July 17, 2010

It is so hot here, I wish I was at the ocean. This picture was done about 2 years ago. The heat tires me out so much and of course we haven't turned on the air conditioner. I got into the pool and it was like bath water. It helped some. I am going to take a shower after this.
We went to Woodland today to see Bud's sister. It took her about 5 minutes to recognize that we were there. She didn't look at or recognize her son yesterday. She is getting worse.
I am still fighting gophers. I lost a big tomato plant today.It had 6 big green tomatoes on it . Maybe they will ripen in the house.

Organize! Organize! I have so much to get rid of. We have been in this house for 33 years. Imagine how much more that I have to get rid of. Not only do I have STUFF I have 33 years worth. Then I have the darkroom. When I started going digital, I left things just as they were and it needed cleaning up then.
I have to do what you are doing and just take the time to get organized.
The kittens belong to a woman at the garden. Another lady out there brought a king snake to the garden. He is a good snake and will kill rattle snakes and gophers. I don't know how he is going to stay where he is put.
Tomorrow is a day to go go Woodland to see Bud's sister. My neighbor is gone again and I am watching the dog. At least it is not the 4th of July and I like the dog.

Veggies and fruit July 15, 2010

Another school project. We are using the light table Produce doesn't last that long when you have a bright light source underneath it and there are 4 of us in aa group wanting to use the same produce. It was fun!
We had 101 today and tomorrow is predicted to be 103-107 degrees

This is one of my early black and whites. This made me think of your struggle blog. We all have struggles with something. Like your Tuesday night meetings, their struggles are big, but they are doing something about it. You have done something about your food struggle. ME__ I have pushed the food struggle down a notch. Now I have a more important struggle!! GOPHERS! GOPHERS! They are destroying my garden at home. I guess that is why I have 2 gardens. The size of the fight in this dog (me) is getting bigger!
If ever I see him, I am not going to show any mercy. I used to wonder where my time went. I am always chasing gophers and losing. That is my struggle for today. Tomorrow will be better!
A bigger struggle tho is with Tammy facing her core biopsy. I hope everything comes out good.

People sandwich July 12,2010

A girl from the Art department needed a portfolio of some of her art for class. Her friend and I did pictures for her. I never got the real meaning of her work. Was it: the world is so crowded with people, that it is like being sandwiched together? Or is it that we like each other so much, put us together and we would make a great sandwich? It isn't good nutrition, she used white bread.
Bottom line.....It is a weird piece of work!

I have always loved this picture of Traci. The lighting was just right and she is surrounded in white.
I really like what you are doing with your food. Once you really made up your mind, you are there! I am still not there. I am finding new recipes for zucchini and they are not always low cal. Plain zucchini gets boring. It looks like I am in for a boring summer. My friend found a hole under her squash plant, she dug around and it was a baby bunny nest with one bunny. I remember when daddy found a new nest with lots of bunnies. Manuel was looking for ripe tomatoes in his garden and something moved. He said he jumped a mile thinking it was a snake. It was a fat toad! You can see what an exciting summer is in store for me!!!

Garden Day July 10 2010

I don't have any pictures that I want to use today. So you got me! We had a workday at the church today. It was hot! My zucchini had gotten so big, I could have hurt someone with a few of them.
I went to therapy yesterday, so today I am starting the 3 exercises 3 times a day. I am beginning to wonder if it's not better to have a bad knee than to do the exercises. Just kidding! But by the time I am done with the one that I have to do for 10 minutes, I am hurting. It must be like a frozen shoulder---you have to break through.
Tomorrow is my last day with the cat next door. The alarm system doesn't bother me any more.
I am really proud of you for doing so good on your eating. I was really hungry today. Nothing would satisfy me. I wasn't real bad but not real good either. You certainly did good going to a pie event and coming home for your smoothie. Keep up the good work. I may be joining you.

Book over 50 July 9, 2010

Just a reminder that you are going to publish a book (over 50)!
Today was a busy day. I have done good on my sweets, maybe not some other things.
I went to water aerobics today. I don't think that helped my knee. I also went to physical therapy. I have 3 exercises to d0 0ne is hard. In fact it hurts. It is like my knee was frozen in the wrong place, now I have to put it back to where it should be.
Tomorrow is early work day at church. I think I will go to bed early.

Church Snake July 6, 2010

Another day at Church. The water problem should be fixed for sure! Manuel worked really hard on getting it fixed. He usually can get most things fixed. It is so wonderful to have someone you can rely on. I got my first tomato yesterday. I have some big zucchini that I should make bread out of it. I have said this for a few days. I was putting away the extra pipe that we didn't use and I noticed this brown thing on the church porch. And it was a snake either sunning himself or sleeping.
We have a rattlesnake guy to come out once a year to round up all the rattlers. I think it is about time for him to come.
Did you get your house all decluttered. Every day I say I am going to do the same and always something comes up. I did a little bit yesterday before the water problem. If I get enough energy, I am going to grate the zucchini.

Challenge July 5, 2010

A Challenge for me to see if I can still sing "Don't worry. be happy" Tell Dioni that I need her to sing that for me tomorrow. Because I want to "Don't worry, be happy". I know it will work if she sings it too.
I was having a good day today until 3:00 and someone called that they weren't getting water and that there was a leak before their plot. Manuel came out after work and worked hard on it and I think he got it fixed but to be on the safe side, I turned off the water and will go out tomorrow morning to see if there are no leaks and cover it back up and turn the water on. I am learning so much! Who knows, if I was to believe in reincarnation I may come back as a plumber, if I am not forced to learn something else new before I come back.

Community garden July 4, 2010

Today started out to be a good day and now that it is over, I would say it is an average day. I always turn the drip on Manuel and my gardens while church is going on.Then I see Erin whoes plot is next to Manuel's. We talked for a few minutes before I had to go in and she was finished. There is not supposed to be gardening going on while we have church service. I took
this picture and put my camera away and her water pipe came apart and was it a gusher! She was panicing. Fortunately I knew where the cut off valve was. So we had to turn the water off on a day of 100 plus tempertue. I had to find someone to fix it and hope it was easy. I had to email the 13 gardeners and tell them the bad news. But a guy at church went out when the weather was cooler and got it fixed.
So God stepped in and took care of everything. This is when I need my "Don't worry.Be Happy."

Happy 4th of July July 3, 2010

Listening to some of the fireworks, not too many, but I am watching the neighbor's dog. Our dog always managed to run away around this time with the noise.This dog is old, hard of hearing, but I was afraid to take that chance so at 10:00 at night with flash light in hand, I went over and got the dog and her bed and put her in our garage. Tomorrow will be worse for fireworks. So I will leave her bed over here.
I know what you mean about "I want it and I want it now" I find myself guilty with that , especially now with my knee. It was better today. I took motrin and wore my brace. Also I got a email from my doctor saying he will contact orthopedics next week. If I get a doctor's appointment, it seems that I always start to feel better.

Mother Robin on Thompson Street. Her babies hatched. I watched them for a day and the next day something had gotten into the nest and torn everything apart.
I am falling asleep at the computer. Gotta go to bed.

Baby Birds July 1, 2010

Baby birds on my front porch in my fake flowers. I am sure their mother though they were beautiful!!
Or maybe she said YOU LOOK JUST LIKE YOUR FATHER. But it also makes me think of that video that Judy did with her dummy on "The Ugly Duck-ling"
On a new subject. I often wondered what mother and Aunt Velma thought about Buddy while they were growing up. What was their age differences. I wish that I had asked Aunt Velma when she was alive. I think she would have told me. I am not sure that mother would have. As I get older, I think of the things that I should have, could have but didn't.
