Happy May 31, 2010

The statue is out in the garden of the nursing home where Bud's sister is. I love seeing the statue, it makes you feel happy. Be happy is my theme tonight, not because I want to be but I need to be. I pulled or over stretched something in the back of my knee while I was playing tennis. Now I can hardly walk.
I saw this on a friend's face book and that is what I was going to send, so I will send it anyway.
"Keep on living life because you only have one shot. Move past the hard times because the good times are more worth it." It made me think of your letter. I think in certain churches you say AMEN

Reynolds Park May 30, 2010

Reynolds Park in Paragould, Arkansas in 2006.
Mr. Hyde had talked about the geese at Reynolds Park one day after a group from the nursing home had gone out there. I took mother out there to see the geese since mother likes geese, ducks and related things. I don't think she liked live geese as much as the ones she has in her house. BUT the fall colors were beautiful.

5 generations May28, 2010

No new pictures. I always liked the 5 generation picture. I was almost 22 years old, so that makes mother 42 years old. Now I look at kids barely 40
years old and I think they are so young and then, I thought Mother was pretty old. Then that must make Grandma your age???
I must quit on that one. Have a good week end.

Sisters for a walk May 27, 2010

I always take my sisters for a walk with me when I do a Relay walk. Hope you enjoyed it! It was a cold, windy miserable day. At least it didn't rain.
It was good to talk to you. You are a busy person.

Relay for Life May 25 2010

Here is my informational site for the relay. Thought you might want to see the die cuts of yours that I used.
I am still getting the kitchen pit back together. It is a long process. Also tiring.

Part of my Survivor Team May 24. 2010

This is 11 of my 13 survivors from my team. Even though it was a bad day, most of my team showed up.
I have been trying to put things back into the kitchen cabinets. The cabinets aren't quite the same size as before, so everything isn't going back as before. It is a lot of work. I also worked in the church garden and at home, The gopher at church is still taking my plants.
I am tired and going to bed.

Bud and Mary Ann at Relay 2010 Ma y23,2010

Relay is over. I am so tired and sleepy. I don't know how much I walked and then taking care of the Survivor tent as well as my tent. I had 21 on my team. Out of that I had 13 survivors.
The day was horrible. The good thing about it was, that it didn't rain. The wind was bad, it was cold. The wind blew over our canopy. Our tents were fine. We didn't do most of the activites because of the wind and cold. Bud did a morning and evening lap. He hadn' done that before,
I will write more later. I am tired.

Last year's Relay Sunny Days. Something we are not supposed to see tomorrow

Tomorrow is the big Relay Day! I hope I don't forget anything important. I don't think we will see much sun like we did last year. This was relaxing at the end of a hot day of walking. It is supposed to rain MAYBE, who knows?? I have to get up at 5:00 and I want to leave here by 6:00.

Superstion Mountain near Phoenix Arizona May20, 2010

Superstion Mountain near Phoenix, Arizona. We went there when we lived there but this picture was made over 5 years ago. I had a Photography seminar there. I got tired of seeing catcus but loved the rock formations.
I sold 9 cookbooks today and 10 raffle tickets. I think I will sell a few more tomorrow and then the rest go to Relay Day.
Our kitchen cabinets were finished today. I am really pleased with them. I want to take my time in getting things put away. I have to wait until after the relay. I am afraid Bud will get antsy and start putting things away.

Baby Bird May 19, 2010

It was good to talk to you today. I am glad you are back to blogging and you had a successful day. I will be glad when my house gets back to normal. I keep telling Bud , I need a week to put things back after the cabinets are in and Relay is over.
I am really interest in what you found out about Amtrak. It has been so long since you have been out to my house. Let me know when you can come. It would be nice. We can go to the temple, you can meet my friend Sharon and do lots of other things. We really don't live that far away. Think about it!

Kenny as a Model May 18, 2010

Kenny must have that look!
What a model!
Having the kitchen all torn up is such a mess. It is hard to eat right.
Looks like you got serious in eating. I am still not eating sugar but the other stuff is still there.
Relay is on Saturday. It may be cold, but hopefully not raining. I am doing good with selling the cook book and raffle tickets. I picked up the free cook books today and they look good. I am going to have a table at our tennis club and see if I can sell anymore cookbooks.

Spider Web May 17, 2010

The spider web always reminds me of crochet. Remember all mother's crocheted doilies. She used to starch them with sugar to make them stand up stiff. I used to wish she would crochet something besides doilies, now I wish I had one of her doilies. She also crocheted a turtle to go over a bar of soap. She wouldn't teach me how to crochet because it would ruin my eyes. I learned how to crochet while I was working in Fresno. I learned not to use those tiny needles that mother used or it would ruin my eyes. I use the biggest needles I can find or I used to.
I have been working on all my relay things. It is only a few days away.

May 16,2010

The red truck!
We are having kitchen work started tomorrow. It may take 5 days, I had to empty everything out of the cabinet. Yesterday was my bad day of eating. I didn't have time to eat anything sensible. We had crossiants and I love them so I had 6-8, I think. This morning, they had turned to cement. I was so constipated, felt so awful. I don't want to ever feel that way again. I ate bran cereal and fruit, a stool softener and eventually with lots of pain, the cement broke loose! That was a real reminder to eat good. You are really having sucess with your eating. Way to go!! I hope to join you soon. I haven't had sugar for a week but the BREAD!

Mission in Ventura May 15,2010

Anther view of the mission in Ventura. The brunch went really good. I am exhausted. But I enjoyed it.
I am going to bed.

Umbrellas at Gulf Shores May 14, 2010

My picture is for a nice sunny, happy day.
My day was truly blessed, not lucky. I think there are lucky days and blessed days.
The girl at the club (and her husband) offered to print and bind 75 cookbooks for free to support cancer. I have met so many giving people while working with Relay and the Community Garden. I find it so amazing and rewarding to meet these people.
It is after midnight and I still have things to do before the brunch tomorrow. I am going to try to get up early. We don't have to worry about rain tomorrow which is a blessing!

Daddy, Grampa Lockard and Smokey May 13, 2010

Happy Birthday Daddy!
Today was a good day. Can you believe that I went to a pie place for lunch?? I wasn't tempted though. Good!
I had a few cookbooks left for sale and my Ball class teacher wants to set up a table at the club and sell them. Kris is doing most of the book herself and she is swamped at work, so I told the teacher the problem. She has someone in her other class who was sure that they could print it for very little. So I am meeting with her tomorrow, plus playing bridge. Somewhere there, I have to vacumn and mop and clean bathrooms.
No fun , no time!

Mary Ann and Joyce 60 years ago??? May 12,2010

On Pekin road, a little out of focus but that is us.
Today is my red letter day! I played tennis, first time since the end of July and nothing hurt! I still have more to do in the yard and lots to do in the house and lots going on outside the house. All before Saturday!!

White Rose May 11, 2010

White rose in King City at our motel.Today was exercise at the club. First, since I've gotten back from vacation. Also today was nutrition. The topic was SUGAR again. Jenny, the leader, says sugar does her in. She can't have a little without wanting more. So we discuss sugar a lot, which most of us need to hear a lot.
It is recommended that women have less than 6 1/2 teaspoons (25 grams) a day. That is added sugars, not natural sugars.
Spices such as cardamon, cinnamon, coriander, ginger, mace and nutmeg can add sweetness. Be creative with sweet spices to trick the tongue without adding sugars.
That is my nutrition class in a nutshell!

Mission San Antonio de Padua May 10, 2010

The last of my missions on this trip. This mission is on Fort Hunter- Legget military base. It was the 3rd mission and by Father Junipero Serra. It had lots of land with it. Today was lots of rain so I didn't get to play tennis. I went to a tennis luncheon and to Costco to buy food for the college's Landscape class. They used our church property for their design homework. Most of their plans were very good.
Tomorrow is a busy day and it is late.

Mothers Day 2010 May 9, 2010

I hope you enjoyed your mother's day with Lori Jo and Terry. We are getting together next Sunday (after the brunch).

Even though mother is no longer with us in body and on mother's day and every day, we will always remember her in memories. This picture was made 4 1/2 years ago. It seemed like she would always be here but time goes on for all of us. We were so blessed to have our parents that long.

Red and white rose at Church May 8

I can't fine my 3rd mission pictures now. I think they are still in the other camera. So I thought I would switch to today"s activities. Manuel helped me with setting up my watering for my community garden area, then I planted a few more things. On my way out I noticed how nice the rose garden looked. This was my favorite rose. I think it is beautiful, bold but pure!!

Mission in Ventura May 7, 2010

Mission number 2. Ventura mission was #3 on seeing my 3 mission. It was ok. I think the lady in the red hat gave it some Mexican look.

Mission at San Miguel May 7, 2010

My mission on this trip was to see missions. I think they are so interesting. I got to see 3 on this trip. Bud went to 2 and did enjoy it. San Miguel mission was built in 1797, a little different from some of the others that I have been to. Today was yard work at home and at the community garden. We had (from the garden) spinach last night and swiss chard tonight. We have been getting sugar peas every day. How is Rod's garden going?

Wednesday, May 5, 2010

Peir in Ventura, CA This was the scene outside my window . We enjoyed the Elderhostel. Some of the music was not to our liking but that's life.
I drove the whole way there and back. It is good to be home. I made it, got lost many times, drove Bud crazy ( but he still didn't offer to drive). I enjoyed it, I am tired and glad I did it and glad to be home!
I enjoyed reading your blogs. Yes, My food isn't printable. I have your blogs to read and it helps to know you are not alone. I went to the community garden today and saw the minister's wife. We decided, starting Monday, we are cutting out white stuff, mainly sugar, white flour. I have to hurry up and eat the junk in the house!!
