Buddy and his dog June 30, 2010

Not a good picture but it shows Buddy at a young age. And his wagon and his dog!
I still like the person's dentist remark, "The greatest part of the pain occured before you came to me." I think that applies to your Tuesday night women. I think they are so lucky (or is that blessed) to have you as their leader. You do a wonderful job!!

Baby Hawk June 29, 2010

We usually have 4 baby hawks. I think I have seen 3. This one loves our patio near the pool. Today I very carefully got within 6 feet of him. I thought he would do something. He never did. We waited each other out for 15 minutes. Finally he moved on but never did anything different at the pool. I thought he would want a drink or something! BUT he just sat there. I am so happy I am in the digital world. Trying to get a good picture of him every time I moved up would have cost a fortune with film.

Ritters in Germany June 28, 2010

Another oldie! Can you imagine Aunt Velma camping? sleeping out in a tent? Looks like Harry peaking out of the tent. I didn't know he was born while they were in Germany. Interesting picture!
I like your friend's comment or the dentist's, " The greatest part of the pain occured before you came to see me for help." That is so true, physically or mentally. I will have to remember that saying.

Squirel June 26, 2010

You probably feel like doing this after your big 3 days!
I'm dying to know how your last BIG day was.
Isn't it great to do something you've never done before and it comes out good. It is hard to relax until it is all over, then you can do what the squirrel did----just flake out for a short time.

Another Breast Cancer Ribbon June 25, 2010

I have seen 4 cancer ribbons and so far this is the prettiest one.
I was on TV. Very short so it wasn't so bad. The artist is on my face book page and she talks a lot about this project. Her name is Deidre Trudeau.
I went out to my church garden to pick zucchini. Some of them got to be clubs. They seem to grow while you are standing there.
I hope your day tomorrow goes good. I am sure it will.

6 foot breast cancer ribbon June 24, 2010

There is a series of artistically interpreted 6-foot tall ribbons in our area. I had seen a few earlier but didn't know much about them. I read a article about them this morning in our local paper. There are 16 all the same size and local artist have chosen one each to paint, decorate to how they want to protray breast cancer.I was meeting a friend for lunch across from this one. I took my camera, went early so I could get a picture. As I was taking a picture , a lady came up and wanted to know if I was one of the artists. I told her I was a cancer survivor and I thought this was a great idea. She was the artist of this ribbon. I enjoyed my talk with her and a man came up with a big camera(I had my little one) He was from our local TV and he was there to do a story. I started to leave since it was almost time for my lunch.
The TV guy asked if I could stay a few more minutes. He would like to interview me and get some pictures. I was almost a celebrity! But it wasn't on the early news, maybe it will be when nothing is happening.

Rabbit June 23, 2010

Which is worse a rabbit in the garden or a gopher?? We now have rabbits in the garden . I remember when daddy had rabbits in his garden at Cardwell. I didn't plant rabbit good so they aren't bothering me. And the gophers haven't done any damage in 2 days!
I hope today's doctor's visit went ok. He had my knee x-rayed
and said it looked good. He thought it might be a meniscus tear. He gave 3 choice and I opted for the cortisone shot. I did that after coming back from mother's funeral. That time it took a couple days to feel good.
I am glad to hear that LeRoy got a job and also that he could help you with your big day. Good Luck! Terry's day will come.

Baby Hawks June 22, 2010

2 of the 4 baby Cooper Hawks that we had last year. Now we have new ones in the nest. They are fun to watch while they are getting their"wings". Sometimes the parent birds aren't too friendly. That is when I used to wear a bicycle helmet if I was out in the yard by myself. So far these parents haven't bothered me. They have watched me though "like a hawk"!

A beautiful place June 20, 2010

What a great trip and the mountains are so close and so beautiful! I hope your trip to Wyoming was good. I know you are going to be so busy this week. It will be worth it though.
Today was somewhat a quiet day. I took refreshments for Church. Of course I had some left over . I still have some but not as many as I brought home! The Sunday school teacher wasn't there so I taught Sunday school. When I got home, I decided that I had to do warfare on the gopher at home. (Did he follow me from Church????) He ate the root and stem of my tomato plant that had 3 tomatoes on it so the tomato was wilted and dead. I bought some sonic tubes ( they take 3 D batteries) Of course I didn't have any so I had to go get batteries. Now the tubes put out this pulsating high pitch sound. It would drive me crazy. Hopefully it will drive them crazy

June 19, 2010 Erin's Garden Gnome

People have started adding little things other than plants to their garden. I liked this one. I have one I am going to put out for open house. I am afraid it will be stolen if I put it out now. So far everything is ok but the garden is open out in the country and you never know what can happen in the dark of the night. Last year we had 2 very big designer type pumpkins taken.

With Discipline, Almost anything is Possible
As you can tell from the almost empty plate of desert, I didn't have discipline. And it wasn't even a desert that I liked!! How bad is that! It was a very interesting day though. There had been more remodeling in the place and we saw different classes going on. I had only been there during off hours before.
DISCIPLINE is the word!

Statue at some winery at Calistoga June16,2010

A statue at a winery in Calistoga. I wouldn't mind having her. Good to see you did a blog. I know you are busy now. I think you have accompished more than you say. I feel like I get nothing done since my knee problem. I did get the front of the house cleaned for bridge. I don't seem to have ambition to do the things that I don't like doing. I never did any way. There are a lot of things that I could be doing. Tomorrow we are going to the culinary school that Kris is in charge of to have lunch with another couple. It should be interesting. We don't pay for lunch but we are their subjects to practice on.

garden plot at the community garden june 16, 2010

After dinner, I worked on my garden plot at the community garden. A few hot days and everything including the weeds grew to giant size. So I did some weeding. I also had a leak in my drip system so I worked on that.
I had bridge this afternoon at my house so worked quickly on the house after nutrition class. The neighborhood strawberry corner had strawberries (they ran out over the weekend) so I was able to get the really good and really sweet strawberries to have for strawberry shortcake for desert. I also had good cards for a change.
I am tired tonight.

Rooster June 14, 2010

I loved this rooster. I guess the only thing I have to crow about is we made it to 52 years of being married. Can you imagine??? 52 years!!! I don't even know when I got that old. I got your phone call. Thanks. No, we didn't do anything. I have to clean house for bridge tomorrow. We went to the Lavender field over the weekend and then went to Subway. That's what happens when you have been married over 50 years.

Canadian Rockies June 13, 2010

I am with you. I love the mountains, clouds and the sky. This was on one of my school trips. My 2 friends and I took a tram ride when we had some free time and this was part of our scenery.
Our trip to the lavender farms would not have worked for you. It was strongly scented!
I hope Dioni has fun on her camps. I know you will be super busy with Avon.

Lavendar fields June 13, 2010

We did go to the Lavender fields. There were rows and rows of thelavender. It was a nice outing. The lavender fields were great and the drive in the country site was good. We went through several towns smaller than Arbyrd and Cardwell.

Wind June 11, 2010

Last year we went to Tehacaphi, down near Lancaster, Ca. We used to take the back route to see Bud's parents in Riverside and see his aunt in Lancaster. Tehacaphi is a small town in the mountains, top of the grade. It has nothing there but a women's prison, wind turbines and a loop that a train has to make to get up the hill. You can see the end of the train and the beginning at the same time just at a different elevation. It was always to me fascinating to me, and it was near a poppy area.
So last year we spent a few days there. The poppies had finished blooming early. I got to see the train and the wind turbines up close. It was a interesting 3 days.
What brought all this up at this time is the WIND. It was bad today and is supposed to be bad tomorrow. I want to go to a opening of a lavendar farm tomorrow and it is about 1 and1/2 hour away in a place that is always more windy than here. Tomorrow we will decide, it is not too far from where Bud's sister is so we could see her also.

Olive tree at the Mission at Hunter Leggett June 9, 2010

Today, I feel as old as the olive tree. The olive tree looks pretty good for it's age. Did you do your brain test???

June7, 2010 Joey and Robin

Happy birthday to Joey and Robin. Marisa is off to the side. Since Robin is on weight watchers, I fixed pretty good food but it still had more calories than really needed. I fixed individual strawberry mini angel food cakes. ( with Costco's help ) The strawberries were local and they were super sweet. So Good!!

June 6 2010 Mother

A belated happy birthday mother ( and Terry) ! My keyboard needed batteries on the 4th and my leg was really hurting on the 5th so I just went to bed. Between ice and motrin I survived.

Today is Sunday and after Church we celebrated Robin and Joey's birthday. Of course that means MORE food ! I was on my feet more than I should have been so I hope the night goes good.

Thursday, June 3, 2010

I loved your blog! It is so great that you found how to get pictures on. Don't worry about the food. It is guilt. Too bad guilt adds pounds! But someday, that day will come when all is good.
Here we are in Alabama, in the park you didn't like. The oil spill is supposed to hit the Pensacola beaches. I wonder about Gulf Shores.

Blue window June 2, 2010

The window is from one of the Missions. I like Indian/Mexican influence. They use lots of color. I also like windows and doors. I think it must be that there is something more....something you have to keep going to see more. I read somewhere that if there was a rehab for curiosity, I would be there.
That must be me. I am curious about so many things!

Night time June 1, 2010

Happy Anniversary! It sure doesn't seem like it should be 26 years. Did you do anything special?
My picture was taken on a camping trip last year. I am hoping that I can go on my school camping trip in July. I got a new tent. I went to the doctor today with my knee. I think I overstretched a tendon in the back of my knee. It is a little better this afternoon -after several doses of motrin. The doctor thinks some rest will fix it up. I hope nothing else goes wrong for awhile.
Again Happy Anniversary!
